Butterfly Keeper Project

Created by nationally acclaimed artist Yuri Tsuzuki, the Butterfly Keeper project has installed dozens of butterflies on buildings, light posts, and parking garages in downtown Greenville to serve as a visual reminder of the transformation that results from the struggle for life, rebirth and hope (click here to read Yuri’s Survivor Story). Like the butterflies, the Cancer Survivors Park celebrates the strength and beauty that can be found even through life’s most difficult times. Yuri’s butterfly sculptures remind us of those in our community who have been touched by cancer while also symbolizing the extraordinary transformation of our city.

Businesses and individuals can now become a part of the Butterfly Keeper project to support the Cancer Survivors Park through the purchase of a beautiful, limited-edition butterfly sculpture to display in their offices or homes (only 75 total available). These one-of-a-kind sculptures come on a stone base with a pre-engraved Butterfly Keeper plaque to show your support of the Cancer Survivors Park and all those who have been affected by this disease.

The significance of the Butterfly Keeper project is shared through signage on a new, large multi-butterfly sculpture created by Yuri that reveals how the butterflies have taken flight, landed in downtown businesses and ultimately found their way home in the Cancer Survivors Park. This large sculpture (funded through a private donor) was recently installed on the exterior wall beside Brooks Brothers on Main Street and includes signage that explains the significance of the butterfly for both the Cancer Survivors Park and the City of the Greenville.
